The Ocean in Autumn

Autumn is my favourite season the air is a little bit dewy and the water is crisp.

We love heading down to Henley Beach in the late afternoon. The sunsets are always spectacular. The clouds form the most magnificent trails in the sky. I barely had to touch these images.

It is so wonderful to let go of the kids hands and let them really run free (this time they insisted on holding our hands…go figure!)

Lauren Moulds - These are spectacular baby!

This was Adele’s big night.

Adele is a pretty incredible human and a pretty incredible arts curator and writer.

Months of planning, organising, dreaming and believing had paid off. This exhibition explored the instant of an encounter. Beautiful structures, words and visuals painted this often unknown moment.

Thanks for letting me snap some snaps, Adele. I am super proud of you.

Ellen - You are so great Amelia! I love these pics, looks like such a fun night too! Xx

Ashlyn - Looks like such a beautiful night! How was this in Adelaide and I not there! Next time! Pictures are fabulous as always xx

The Higham Family | Adelaide Family Photographer

It was a Sunday morning and the rain had rolled over our little city. Dark grey clouds were all the eye could see. The air was crisp and the ground was soaked. Puddles formed where dust blew, only the day before. It was the first real rain we had this year. I was feeling the change in seasons, Autumn had greeted me with a wee tickle in my throat. The only thing that kept me from wallowing in a sick heap was knowing that I would get to spend the morning hanging out with this family.

As I arrived at their house by the sea, the rain was heavy and fast. I waited in the car for the rain to clear. Swaddling myself against the chill and dashing across the road, a familiar face appeared at the door.

Cat is such a kind and generous soul. Her passion for her family, for food, for life and for craft is what drew me to her blog all those moons ago. I left this shoot with a warm heart and an armful of baked treats and fresh offerings from her garden. I am eternally grateful for the people I meet and the connections I make every single time I pick up my camera. I am so humbled to be able to capture these moments for a family.

Ruth - Soooo many FANTASTIC shots of this gorgeous family!

Cat - I just love these all so much … As I explained to the lady who asked me why I was crying when I saw these first on the train. You’ve captured “us” Amelia. I cannot thank you enough. I can’t wait to do our next one. Xxx

Kristy - Such beautiful photos Amelia!

The McKinnon Family | Sydney Family Photographer

Two weeks ago I found myself sitting in the airport. Quietly flipping through a magazine, tapping my feet along to music playing through my headphones. This was the moment. This was the real deal. I am a photographer and I am flying interstate to photograph a beautiful family. I looked out of the ginormous windows, planes arrived, planes departed. My hometown in the distance, I could see where I had been, and I could see where I was. With a little tear of gratitude, I pinched myself and started on my journey.

I was so grateful that the McKinnon’s were that family. Sam is someone I have know for a few years. We linked up via the mama blogosphere, our children around the same age, and we also share similar tastes in fashion, design and music. We often joke that we are twins. So you can imagine how stoked I was to finally give this woman a hug. She is everything I hoped she would be, and more. I spent the better part of a day with these guys, we sipped coffee, talked about life, love and children. Seeing these two high school sweethearts (still just as smitten with each other), beam with joy as they played with their three beautiful children, seriously warmed my soul.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you McKinnon’s,

Lou - Amelia!

My spine is tingling. I flippin’ love all of it – you have out done your self my dear. A beautiful family, captured beautifully.

BabyMacBeth - LOOK AT YOU. Beautiful. All the shots and that lovely family. A joy to behold Amelia and Sammy…I’m so proud xxx

Malia - So beautiful! I love the unfolding storyline as more people emerge in the photos!

Cat - Oh Amelia what beautiful photos of a clearly loving family. That book wall is so ace too.

It seems to me that every family you photograph would get along with each other fabulously. Maybe we should organise a picnic?!

Sam McKinnon - I’m still actually trying to process how amazing these are.

I am so blessed that you came and captured this time in my life.

I am forever grateful.

And this won’t be your last visit to Sydney, I’m sure I’ll be seeing you again… REAL soon!
